Toshiba’s Satellite P55t Laptop Sports 15.6-Inch 4K Ultra HD Technicolor Certified Display

One has to wonder: is it possible to have access to too many pixels? Probably not, particularly if you're Toshiba. The company has just outed one of the planet's first 4K laptops, and if pixel density is your top priority, this one's going to be tough to resist. The Satellite P55t has a full-fledged 4K display, and the first to earn Technicolor's Color Certification.

It's meant mostly for creative pros, but enthusiasts will find plenty to love as well. It's equipped with a 15.6" IPS screen, a 3840 x 2160 resolution, and 282PPI (pixels per inch) to gawk at. Toshiba clims that it's Technicolor Certified during production, and with the "preinstalled Chroma Tune for Toshiba software, users can personalize and manage individual color space control and apply profiles to a variety of software applications." Better still? A full version of Adobe's Photoshop Lightroom 5 is included. Nice touch!

Other specifications include a 4th-generation Core i7 quad-core CPU, up to 16GB of DDR3L memory, AMD's Radeon R9 M265X graphics, a 1TB hard drive, a 3D impact sensor, four USB 3.0 sockets, a UHS-II SD card slot, 802.11ac Wi-Fi, and a 4K-capable HDMI output. Oh, and if you thought the optical drive was dead, you'll be glad to know that this one is available with a Blu-ray writer -- sensible given the target market here.

It'll go on sale next week for $1499.99, which seems like a pretty solid deal given the unique build.
