Toshiba Updates Notebook Line For Back-To-School Shoppers

You just have to wonder: do these companies plan nearby releases, or is it really just the luck of the draw? With MSI, HP and countless others introducing new notebooks and refreshed lines over the past few weeks, Toshiba's quietly joining that crowd with a new Q3 lineup that aims to provide a laptop for every budget, need and lifestyle. Not surprising, but these are arriving just as the back-to-school season ramps up, and we're sure they're hoping to land a good deal of sales from that alone.

The Satellite P700 series is getting a few nice extras for those who dig newfangled technology, including Intel WiDi 2.0, USB 3.0, H/K speakers, a textured metallic Fusion X2 design and 2nd-generation Intel and AMD A-Series processors. They're good all-around machines for light-duty gaming and multimedia, and the starting price of $629 makes this a relatively affordable option as well.

The Qosmio X775 line is designed for one purpose: gaming. Anyone familiar with that brand name would know that. It's equipped with the latest cutting-edge components, NVIDIA GeForce GTX560M GPU hardware, 2D/3D support and a starting price of $1199. The Satellite L700 and C600 series are there for the bargain hunters, starting at $449 and $379, respectively. These range in size from 13.3" to 17.3", ship in a variety of colors, and have enough horsepower to handle "life's basics."

So, Toshiba's out -- who's next?
