Toshiba Adds Haswell To Satellite U and M Series Laptops
Intel's fourth-generation family of Core processors (Haswell) have shown to perform extremely well in testing, particularly in an area where Intel has historically been slightly weak: power consumption. Many PC makers have already showcased their Haswell plans, hoping to get the new silicon into new machines before the back-to-school and holiday shopping seasons. Toshiba is joining that crowd today with a number of improvements to its Satellite U and M series of laptops.
The Satellite U50t is the company's first 15.6-inch Ultrabook, and ships with a ten-point touchscreen for easy navigation through the Windows 8 interface. You'll also get the latest NVIDIA graphics support; in addition, M50t and M50Dt model comes with touchscreen capability, while the M50D and M50Dt versions feature AMD's next-generation APU processors and AMD Radeon Graphics. Additionally, each new Satellite laptop comes with a handy Bluetooth 4.0 connection, full-size HDMI port and SD card slot, plus an HD webcam with noise-cancelling stereo microphone. Of the three USB ports available, two are USB 3.0 for even faster file transfers between devices.
A 1TB hard drive, Intel WiDi and Miracast are also included, and Toshiba expects the full ranges to ship in Q3 for prices that are to be determined.
