‘The Surge’ High-Octane Action RPG Goes Gold For PC, Xbox One And PS4, PlayStation Gets 4K And 1080p60 Kicker
No, your favorite 90’s soda is not suddenly back in fridge. The highly anticipated game The Surge has gone gold. The game will be available on PC, Xbox One, and PS4 on May 16th.
The Surge is a science fiction action RPG that takes inspiration from the Rise of the Robots and Souls series. The game is the brainchild of Deck13 Interactive and is being published by Focus Home Interactive. The player is dropped into a dystopian future where mankind has consumed all of the Earth’s resources. According to Focus Home Interactive, “The world of The Surge offers a very grim vision of the future, where the evolution of our technology, our society and our relation with the environment led to a decadent state of the Human civilization.”
The protagonist Warren is equipped with an exoskeleton that can be customized through “modular updates” (Fallout anyone?). The player will also be able to loot and collect supplies in order to build and upgrade weapons and armor. Each weapon and piece of armor will have its own benefits and capabilities. Many have also noted that combat appears to be quite intense. The player for example, will be able to dismember both carbon-based and robotic opponents.
PS4 Pro players will also receive their own special treat. A free update will be available for the PS4 Pro after the game release that will allow gamers to play in 4K at 30fps or in 1080p at 60fps. There is currently no release date for the upgrade.
Fans who pre-order The Surge will receive several in-game bonuses. Gamers will get the Cred PSOI Limited Rig, a mechanized counterweight V.0.9 implant that offers a physical damage boost injectable, and Dowsing OS Proximity Sensor Add-on Implant which is a “secret finding implant”.
