SRS Introduces Premium Sound Suite for PCs

- Platform and development support available for immediate implementation on PCs
SANTA ANA, CA, October 28, 2008 -- SRS Labs (NASDAQ:SRSL), the industry leader in surround sound, audio, and voice technologies, announced today the introduction of SRS Premium Sound™ for the PC market. SRS Premium Sound is a comprehensive suite of state-of-the-art audio technologies that deliver a superior entertainment experience for playback of music, video and game content on the PC.
In a recent CEA survey*, 73% of online users indicated using their PCs for audio purposes – music, YouTube, streaming content, movies, etc. – yet, nearly half of the users participating in that survey voiced dissatisfaction with their audio listening experience delivered by their PCs. Watching the transition of the PCs, particularly notebook PCs, from a “working device” to a an “entertainment device” and understanding the limitations inherent in standard PC audio, SRS developed SRS Premium Sound specifically to provide PC makers with tuned sound quality tailored to their unique product designs to deliver outstanding range and audio quality.
“Gone are the days where the sole use of the computer was to run spreadsheets or to create word documents. Instead, today’s users are increasingly using their computers as a one-stop entertainment device and they are expecting higher quality audio to complete their entertainment experience,” said Allen H. Gharapetian, SRS vice president of marketing. “Confirming this trend, CEA* recently reported that better sound quality is the number one improvement people want in their home entertainment experience. Our Premium Sound addresses this trend as perhaps the most perfect and effortless way to produce high quality sound anywhere, from any PC, including laptops with tiny speakers.”
SRS Premium Sound is available for three operating systems – Microsoft Windows Vista®, Microsoft Windows®, and Linux. During the implementation process, SRS engineers work closely with the codec provider and PC manufacturer to optimize the performance of each notebook model’s audio system taking into consideration each products industrial design, speaker placement, orientation and frequency response
“We are pleased to be the first HD Audio Codec provider to partner with SRS to deploy SRS Premium Sound for our PC customers,” said Henry Wong, senior strategic marketing manager, for the IDT Consumer and Multimedia Division. “We worked closely with the SRS team to design a total audio solution that is tightly integrated within the IDT HD sound GUI and related IDT Codecs, allowing PC makers to deliver a seamless, easy-to-use consumer interface and audio features. The combination of IDT and SRS provides PC makers and consumers with a winning solution, ensuring them the best sound quality possible for music, videos and gaming applications.”
