Samsung Tablets Rank Top in Owner Satisfaction Survey
Overall customer satisfaction with tablet devices is 821 on a 1,000-point scale. Samsung ranks highest with a score of 835 and is the only manufacturer to improve its ratings in all five categories (Performance, Ease of Use, Physical Design, Tablet Features, and Cost) since the last report.
Apple came in a very close second with a score of 833, just 2 points below Samsung. However, a closer look at individual categories reveals that iPad owners are happier with almost every aspect of their device, save for the premium price tag. J.D. Power uses a 5-dot rating system for each category, and Apple's iPad received perfect 5-dot scores in every metric except "Cost," which scored a 2 out of 5.
Meanwhile, Samsung scored 3 out of 5 in Performance, 3 out of 5 in Ease of Use, 4 out of 5 in Physical Design, 4 out of 5 in Tablet Features, and 4 out of 5 in Cost, all of which are reflective of customer rankings.
We suppose the takeaway here is that price is the most important factor to consumers. Breaking things down by category, tablet owners seem more satisfied with the iPad than with any other tablet, but once you factor in the price, Samsung jumps to the front of the line in terms of overall satisfaction.
