Samsung Launches eReader With Barnes & Noble eCommerce Storefront
The Samsung eReader offers Wi-Fi connectivity, advanced handwriting capabilities, and access to over one million electronic titles. Samsung partnered with Barnes & Noble to provide the eCommerce storefront for the Samsung eReader. Thanks to the partnership, users will be able to access Barnes & Noble’s digital library of more than one million eBooks, eMagazines, and eNewspapers. Many bestsellers are available for $9.99.
Samsung's eReader also supports LendMe technology, which lets users lend an eBook to a friend free of charge for 14 days. You can send the book to another Samsung eReader or to a number of other computer and mobile devices that have the free Barnes & Noble eReader software.
Perhaps the most distinguishing feature of the Samsung eReader is its electromagnetic resonance (EMR) stylus pen. This stylus gives users the ability to make annotations and write on a page just as you would in a traditional book. You can also record voice memos and annotations.
The Samsung eReader uses a 6-inch E-ink display (600x800) with 8-Gray scale to offer easy readability both indoors and out. It supports e-pub, PDF/a, TXT, bmp and jpg formats. Thanks to text-to-speech technology, users can also listen to books through the device's built-in speakers or via the headphone jack. The eReader also has a built-in MP3 player.
With 2GB of internal memory, the Samsung eReader can store 1,500 books or 24,000 pages of memos. The reader also has an external microSD card slot for increased storage.
