Samsung Introduces The Galaxy S5, Gear 2, and Gear Fit In Detailed Promo Videos

You have to admire Samsung's ability to clown the competition in advertisements and social media, though not everything the company puts out there is intended to draw laughs. Samsung has a serious side as well, which is on display in a couple of new and informative videos showing off the Galaxy S5, Gear 2, and Gear Fit.

They're a nice change of pace from the usual fodder, be they humorous or over hyped. Samsung lays out detailed specs, so if you decide to sit through the 3 minute and 45 second YouTube video showing off the Galaxy S5, you'll at least come away knowing all the technical details without having to hop around websites. Have a look:

If you'd rather not sit through the video, we'll splash the details here -- the Galaxy S5 sports a generous 5.1-inch Super AMOLED display with a 1920x1080 resolution, quad-core 2.5GHz processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB or 32GB of storage, microSD card slot, 16MP front-facing camera, 2MP rear-facing camera, 802.11ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC, and Android 4.4 KitKat. Beyond the specs, the video shows off the phone's capabilities, including some nifty camera tricks like near and far focus, and how the heart rate monitor works. It's a really nice smartphone, as we discovered during our own hands-on time with it at Samsung's Unpacked event.

A second video introduces the Gear 2 and Gear Fit, a pair of wearables that can sync with the Galaxy S5. The Gear 2 is a standard smartwatch design that's slimmer and lighter than the original Gear. The camera is now on the bezel, which allows for interchangeable straps. As far as specs go, it has a 1.63-inch Super AMOLED display, dual-core 1GHz processor, 512MB of RAM, 4GB of internal storage, and a 2MP camera with auto-focus.

The Gear Fit is somewhat similar but boasts a 1.84-inch curved AMOLED display (432x128) and has a pedometer, stopwatch, timer, heart rate monitor, gyroscope, accelerometer, and a few other odds and ends.
