Samsung Galaxy S8 Active Render Leaks Ahead Of Rumored August Launch

While nothing is yet official, it is a pretty safe bet that Samsung is going to release a rugged version of its Galaxy S8 handset called the Galaxy S8 Active. Previous reports say the unannounced handset is codenamed Cruiser and that it will be an exclusively offered by AT&T. The Galaxy S8 Active has also popped up on benchmarking websites and has received its Wi-Fi certification. And thanks to a third-party accessory company on Amazon, we now have what could possible be the first render of the unreleased smartphone.

Even though Samsung and AT&T have yet to officially acknowledge the Galaxy S8 Active, that did not stop a company called Omoton from posting a listing on Amazon for a two-pack of screen protectors for the device. These are tempered glass screen protectors with a rated 9H hardness level. More importantly, the description states in no uncertain terms that these "only fit [the] Samsung Galaxy S8 Active," and do "NOT fit [the] Galaxy S8 and S8+."

The listing amounts to what is a pre-order even though it does not specifically say so. However, it does state that the product will be in-stock on August 1, 2017. The screen protector's release date suggest that the Galaxy S8 Active might also be out on August 1, or sometime around then. Whatever the case might be, the Galaxy S8 Active is probably not too far off in the distance.

Either way, the accompanying render is interesting. It is similar to previous renders of the Galaxy S8 Active and might very well be indicative of the phone's final design.

Previous rumors and leaks suggest the Galaxy S8 Active will boast a 5.8-inch AMOLED display powered by Samsung's Exynos 8895 processor and 4GB of RAM. Like past handsets in the Active lineup, this one will likely meet MIL-STD-810G certifications to protect against things such as water, dust, drops, and shocks.
