Razer's 17.3" Next-Gen Blade Laptop Puts Other Gaming Rigs To Shame

When it comes to gaming laptops, not a whole lot has changed in the past 10 years. They've got a little thinner, the battery life is a bit better, and they're obviously more powerful. But overall, a gaming laptop is a gaming laptop. Razer set out to change that with the original "Blade," and now the second installment of the Blade is ready for public judgment. It's the next-generation Blade, which offers the newest line of Intel quad-core processors, NVIDIA's GTX-class graphics and the "fastest RAM available." The new edition is just 0.88" thick, which is wildly thin for a gaming beast, and it ships with an ultra-slim power supply as well. The whole thing weighs less than 7 lbs,. again -- that's pretty impressive.

There's a 17.3" HD display, a hybrid hard drive solution, quieter fans than before, and three USB 3.0 ports that'll charge products even with the laptop powered off. Of course, there's an LCD display/multi-touch panel and 10 dynamic adaptive tactile keys that really put this above the fold. The Switchblade UI features a growing list of applications designed specifically for gaming by Razer's in-house software engineers as well as by Razer's active community of users. These apps allow users to browse the web for in-game guides, watch online videos, stay connected within their social networks, and take advantage of an expanding list of dedicated gaming apps without ever having to leave a game.

It's up for pre-order now starting at $2499, with shipments to North America expected to start on September 30th.
