Olympus Announces Three New Cameras

Olympus is expanding its lineup once again, this time with three new FE Series models as well as a new STYLUS model. Among the additions to the FE Series, you’ll find the FE-5020 and FE-4000 models with wide-angle zoom lenses in a super-slim body. The new STYLUS-7010 packs a 7x wide-angle zoom lens.

FE-5020, FE-4000, and FE-46

Olympus’ new FE-5020, FE-4000, and FE-46 cameras feature a 12-megapixel sensor, in-camera Magic Filters, and a new AF Tracking feature that keeps your subject in focus. Some of the included Magic Filters include Pop Art, Fish-Eye, and Pin Hole modes. For no-fuss shooting, the cameras offer an intelligent auto mode that will automatically choose the most appropriate shooting mode for your subject. After capturing an image, you can use the Perfect Fix In-Camera Editing feature to crop and adjust the photo as necessary. Other features include Shadow Adjustment Technology, Advanced Face Detection, and In-Camera Help Guides.

The FE-4000 offers a 4x zoom lens that is equivalent to 26mm - 105mm. This camera comes in Dark Gray, Pearl White, and Magenta. You’ll find a 5x zoom lens on the FE-5020 with an equivalent zoom of 24mm - 120mm. The FE-5020 is available in Wine Red, Dark Gray, and Royal Blue. Finally, the FE-46 comes in Light Blue, Light Pink, Pearl Black, and Pearl White.

All three new models are expected in September. The FE-5020 ($159.99) and FE-4000 ($149.99) cameras come with an LI-42B Rechargeable Battery and Charger, while the FE-46 ($99.99) includes two AA alkaline batteries.

STYLUS-7010

The STYLUS-7010’s 7x optical zoom lens (28mm-196mm equivalent) makes this camera one of the most powerful Stylus cameras to date. Even better, the STYLUS-7010’s zoom lens retracts to less than an inch thick to help keep the STYLUS-7010 thin. This 12-megapixel camera features Dual Image Stabilization, AF Tracking, Intelligent Auto shooting, In-Camera Panorama, and Magic Filters. Other features include Shadow Adjustment Technology, an Olympus Recommended Button, Beauty Mode, and Perfect Shot Preview.

The camera’s TruePic III Image Processor works to produce clear photos using all of the pixel information for each image. For framing and reviewing images, the STYLUS-7010 offers a 2.7-inch HyperCrystal II LCD. The STYLUS-7010 will be available in dark gray, silver, and pink in August for an estimated street price of $199.99.
