NVIDIA’s Tegra 4 Processor Powers New HP Tablets
NVIDIA may have its own reference platform to market to tablet makers, but its quad-core Tegra 4 chip is showing up in plenty of places, as well. NVIDIA and HP announced two new tablets running the processor, the HP Slate 7 Extreme and HP Slate 8 Pro, which follow two previous Tegra 4 devices, the HP SlateBook X2 and HP Slate All-In-One.
HP Slate 7 Extreme
The HP Slate 7 Extreme is a 7-inch (1280x800) device boasting NVIDIA’s DirectStylus technology, so you can make use of handwriting input with the included digital pen and companion apps. It also has 16GB of storage, front-facing stereo speakers with bass reflex, and 10 hours of juice on a battery charge. There’s also an HDMI out port so you can hook the tablet up to a TV.
HP Slate 8 Pro
An 8-inch (1600x1200) tablet with Beats Audio on board, the HP Slate 8 Pro has HDR image capture and comes preloaded with several apps including Kingsoft Office, HP File Manager, HP ePrint, and HP Connected Photo.
Both devices will be available starting in November, but HP and NVIDIA haven’t shared pricing information yet.
