Nokia Head Stephen Elop To Take Over Microsoft’s Xbox And Surface
In an internal Microsoft email, Larson-Green discusses her new role as Chief Experience Officer (CXO) and head of the Life & Work team in the Applications and Services Group and mentions that Elop is assuming her former duties.
“I’m very proud of what we have accomplished during such a short timeframe. We launched Xbox One, Surface 2 & Pro 2, blockbuster games like Forza and Ryse, a brand new Xbox Music and Video service, PPI, and some amazing unannounced innovations just to name a few – incredibly impressive!”, she wrote. She added, “The addition of Nokia Devices & Services into the DnS family will add tremendous scale, talent and opportunity for our future.”
Larson-Green will remain in her current role until the Microsoft/Nokia deal is finalized. When the deal is done, Elop will be in charge of those key Microsoft assets that include Xbox and Surface products. Notably, Elop was reportedly on the short list to be Microsoft's next CEO.
