Nikon D7000 DSLR Now Available for Preorder
"The D7000 DSLR creates a new class of Nikon camera by delivering exceptional quality, control, and an innovative feature set; this is a camera that enables DSLR users to achieve a true expression of their creative vision, while concentrating primarily on image quality above all else," said Lisa Osorio, general manager of marketing at Nikon Inc. "When you combine the innovation of the agile D7000 with the exceptional and robust line of NIKKOR lenses and accessories, the potential for DSLR photographers and filmmakers is limitless."
In addition to the generously sized CMOS sensor, Nikon also tricked out its latest DSLR with its new EXPEED 2 image processing system. According to Nikon, you can expect superior image quality with lower noise than in previous gen models. Combined with a 14-bit Analog / Digital conversion, Nikon claims the D7000 manages a fast 50-millisecond shutter response along with six frame-per-second (FPS) burst speed for up to 100 images.
For those of you who like to shoot in low light environments, the DF7000 sports a native ISO range of 100-6400. It can also be expanded to a Hi-2 setting of 25,600, a setting previously only found on Nikon's FX-format cameras.
The D7000 will be available around the middle of October for $1,200 for the body only, or $1,500 for the body and lens kit that includes the AF-S DX Zoom NIKKOR 18-105mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR lens. Or you can snag one now for preorder on Amazon.com.
