New GeForce Go 7700 GPU in Asus Notebook

NVIDIA and ASUS have just issued a press release which announces that ASUS will be using the new GeForce Go 7700 GPU's in their new A8Js notebooks. The otherwise unannounced GeForce Go 7700 GPU is a 80u part which is equipped with 12 pixel pipelines versus the GeForce Go 7600's 8 pipelines. In addition, the GPU also supports 512MB of memory as well as complete support for NVIDIA's PureVideo technology. With this being the first announcement, you can be sure more details regarding this GPU will begin to trickle in throughout the remainder of the week.

NVIDIA Corporation (Nasdaq: NVDA) today announced that ASUS has selected the new NVIDIA GeForce Go 7700 graphics processing unit to create the graphically powerful, thin-and- light A8Js notebook. The new GeForce GPU delivers 50% more pixel bandwidth than the NVIDIA GPU used previously in the ASUS A8 series(1), ushering in new levels of graphics performance and video quality for small compact notebooks such as the new ASUS A8Js.
