NEC Upgrades E Series Commercial Grade Big Screen Displays

NEC today said it made some big changes to its large screen E Series displays aimed at commercial applications, such as cost-effective digital signage duties for conference rooms, retail stores, waiting rooms, and corporate lobbies. Upgraded second generation models include the 32-inch E322, 42-inch E422, 46-inch E462, and 55-inch E552.

These new models now include RS-232C support to allow control from external equipment, synchronization of multiple displays, and remote management. They also come with integrated USB media players, and sport an upgraded 3-year warranty. These are in addition to existing features of the E Series, including an analog/digital tuner, swivel stand, low-profile stereo speakers, and closed captioning support.

"The additions we have included in the second generation E Series make them more flexible and easier to integrate with a multitude of digital signage configurations," said Rachel Karnani, Product Manager for Large-Screen Displays at NEC Display Solutions. "The RS-232C grants elevated control management for customers that desire remote capabilities of multiple displays, a feature many find useful in these types of applications. By increasing the standard warranty, NEC is showcasing its reliability and support with one of the strongest customer service teams in the industry."

With the exception of the E322, which maxes out at 1360x768, the new E Series sport Full HD 1080p displays. Other features include up to a 5,000:1 contrast ratio; three HDMI inputs, Component, Composite, and VGA inputs; multiple picture modes; backlight adjust; and input labeling.

The E322 ($449), E422 ($699), E462 ($899), and E552 ($1,349) will ship later this month.
