MSI Upgrades G Series Gaming Laptops with NVIDIA GTX 680M Graphics
The thing about gaming laptops is that the majority of them sport limited upgrade opportunities. Outside of whitebox units, you're not likely to be able to yank out the discrete GPU and slap a new one in there, and if you're a gamer, it's imperative you choose the best graphics subsystem you can afford. Right now one of the top dogs is NVIDIA's GeForce GTX 680M GPU, a potent part that's now making an appearance in MSI's G Series of gaming laptops.
"The addition of NVIDIA's latest GPU adds the extra power to boost the already acclaimed G Series over the top," said Andy Tung, vice president of sales for MSI US. "MSI is committed to the gaming community and we believe that exceptional gaming experience and performance start with outstanding components."
Both MSI's GT70 and GT60 models come standard with an Intel Core i7 3610QM processor nestled into Intel's HM77 chipset, a Killer E2200 LAN card, three USB 3.0 ports, two USB 2.0 ports (the GT60 sports a single USB 2.0 port), HDMI output, 720p webcam, SteelSeries backlit keyboard, and Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.
The GT70 is a 17.3-inch notebook with a 1920x1080 resolution. In addition to the above, it has 16GB of DDR3-1600 RAM, Blu-ray burner, and two 128GB SSDs configured in RAID 0, plus a 750GB hard drive for storage chores. It sells for $2,599. As for the GT60, it's a 15.6-inch laptop with the same resolution, but features 12GB of RAM, a DVD burner, and a 750GB hard drive. It sells for $1,899.
