MOG Fusion To Deliver On-Demand Music To Cars

Cars have been "just cars" for an awfully long time. It's 2012, and we still feel that we're a century or more away from having surroundings like that of The Jetsons. But slowly, cars are becoming more and more advanced. Microsoft's SYNC system started things off a few years ago, and companies have obviously looked at that in order to copy that setup somewhat. Consumers are becoming more and more demanding when it comes to having technology within the vehicle, and while iPod playback and Bluetooth support is a great start, it won't be enough much longer.

MOG, which currently hosts an on-demand music service, is now looking to spread their services into the automotive realm. The new platform is calling MOG Fusion, and it's an API Program for both consumer electronics and auto makers. These new APIs are now available for integration, and MOG describes Fusion as a place where manufacturers can learn and receive the needed documentation to implement MOD into a vehicle.

The end-goal would be to bring MOG's on-demand music service to in-car navigation and entertainment centers. But will auto makers bite the bait? It's hard to say right now, but with Pandora apps and the like finding their way into cars already, we're pretty confident that someone will buy in so that competition can be provided.

MOG Launches MOG Fusion: API Program for CE and Auto Manufacturers
Internal API's Now Available for Integration

BERKELEY, Calif., January 5, 2011 – MOG, the Web's best on-demand music listening service, today announced the launch of MOG Fusion (www.fusion.mog.com), a program giving consumer electronic (CE) and automotive manufacturers the chance to tap into MOG's vast catalog of music, unmatched discovery capabilities, and high-quality audio playback. The MOG Fusion site is a place for manufacturers to learn about the program and receive all of the necessary documentation and guidelines for implementation.

The MOG Fusion program will be accessible to select suppliers and manufacturers in the consumer electronics and automotive industries. Prospective partners can contact MOG through the Fusion website, and will be selected based on potential unit volume, quality of the MOG user experience on the device, and level of MOG promotion on the device. Once accepted into the program, the MOG Fusion site will provide home, portable, and car audio manufacturers with the following components:

• API license agreement
• Set of 5 core APIs:
o Catalog search & browse
o Playback & content security
o Playlisting & favoriting
o User history & preferences
o Associated music meta data and popularity information
• API documentation with all available information about MOG Fusion including:
o Implementation guidelines
o Best practices & code samples
o Certification requirements
o UI specs
• Certification process

"The Future of digital music is all about increased access through the 10-foot experience, and being built into car dashboards," said David Hyman, CEO and founder of MOG. "People want to consume music wherever they are, without any limitations, and MOG is committed to providing the best digital music listening experience to people, everywhere. Through our new API program, MOG Fusion, we're extending our technology and allowing for widespread innovation, across multiple platforms. We can't wait to see the many implementations of MOG, ultimately providing listeners with even more ways to enjoy the music they love."

MOG is kicking off its new API program with select partners including Visteon Corporation, a global automotive supplier, all of which have already tapped in to MOG Fusion to integrate MOG into future products. Visteon will be showcasing its implementation of MOG on a prototype head unit at the upcoming Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, NV on January 6-9, 2011 at the CES Central Plaza, booth number CP #20.
MOG will take an active role in identifying partners and helping manufacturers access MOG's internal API's. Manufacturers will be able to interact with the MOG product team, and give feedback on the entire process.

Additional features will continue to roll out as the site and program furthers develops. For more information about MOG Fusion, please visit www.fusion.mog.com.
