Microsoft Expects Kinect Games Portfolio to Triple by End of Year
It's too early to tell. Initial sales have been promising, and it certainly helped that Microsoft made sure there were no less than 17 compatible titles available when the Kinect launched, ensuring you could jump around and shake your rump to new graphics once you got tired of doing so in Dance Central or Kinect Adventures. Perhaps if Microsoft can ensure its catalog of Kinect titles keeps growing, gamers will continue to buy into the concept of motion controlled gaming. If you're a fan of the Kinect, the good news is Microsoft has no intentions of slowing down, and in fact, to quote Randy Bachman, "You ain't seen nothing yet."
"In anticipation of another record year in 2011, Microsoft announced the size of the Kinect games portfolio will triple by the end of the year," Microsoft said in a press release.
Not feeling these titles? Microsoft promises a much wider Kinect catalog by the end of the year.
If true, there's going to be a lot of Kinect games by the time 2012 rolls around, There are currently 26 Kinect games on the market, and if that were to triple, we'd be looking at -- let's see, carry the one -- around 78 titles, depending on which number Microsoft was going on.
"We've seen some of the media start to ask the question, 'When are we going to see more Kinect games coming?,'" a Microsoft product manager told gaming site Joystiq. "As we sat there and looked at it we realized we've got a lot of games coming and we're going to show at lot of them at E3."
Do you own a Kinect? If not, would a larger games catalog entice you pick one up, or are you simply not feeling the whole concept of motion controlled gaming?
