LG Confirms April 28 Unveil For Flagship G4, Highlights Impressive f1.8 Camera

It was a week ago today that LG began teasing the launch of its flagship G4 handset, only at the time the company didn't come right out and say it. Instead, LG told the press to "save the date" for April 28, 2015 in New York, London, and Paris, and April 29 in Seoul, Singapore, and Istanbul, at which time they'd be able to "See the great, feel the great." Well, it's now official.

Those dates are when LG will formally introduce the G4 smartphone in the listed territories. New invites sent out to members of the press have taken the guesswork out of what LG has planned, which is the "official unveiling of LG G4." The first of them will kick off in New York City at 11 AM (Eastern) exactly three weeks from today.

LG also teased the G4 in a new promotional video lasting 42 seconds, around 41 seconds of which is fluff. About the only thing that's confirmed in the video is that the G4 will feature an f1.8 camera lens -- the flagship phone's other hardware and features weren't officially revealed and presumably won't be until the unveiling later this month.

In the meantime, there are rumors, speculation, and leaks. Based on those, it's believed the G4 will come out swinging with a 5.5-inch IPS panel with a 2560x1440 resolution, dual-LED flash and auto-focus camera features, next generation Qualcomm Snapdragon processor (perhaps the 810 chip), 3GB of RAM, 32GB of onboard storage + microSD card slot, 802.11ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, Corning Gorilla Glass 4, and Android 5.0 Lollipop.

There's also been chatter of a curved display and a stylus thrown into the mix. Will they make it into the final design? We'll know more in a few weeks.
