HP Launches New, Stylish Desktops

HP announced a new generation of consumer desktop PCs as well as an updated HP TouchSmart PC software suite. The redesigned consumer desktop lines include the HP Slimline, HP Pavilion, HP Elite, and Compaq Presario. The HP Slimline, HP Pavilion, and HP Elite lines will come with the HP MediaSmart software suite. This multimedia software makes watching TV or Blu-ray movies, sharing photos via Snapfish, burning music, etc. very easy.

The new HP Pavilion Slimline s5000 series stands at half the size of a conventional PC tower and will fit neatly on a desk or in a dorm room. The HP Pavilion p6000 series focuses on offering a rich and rewarding Web and multimedia experience. The HP Pavilion Elite e9000 series delivers performance for demanding tasks such as video editing, gaming, and multitasking. Finally, the Compaq Presario CQ5000 series offers reliability at an affordable price. To complement all of these new PCs, HP is also offering a 20-inch HP 2009m monitor and a 21.5-inch HP 2159m monitor, as well as matching keyboard and mouse.

“This new generation of desktop PCs features a fresh and modern design, unbeatable performance and tremendous value,” said John Cook, vice president, Worldwide Consumer PC Marketing, HP. “And with matching monitors and accessories, it’s easy to customize a desktop solution that combines performance with style.”

The new HP TouchSmart PC software suite provides an improved touch experience to help you enjoy photos, videos, music, and more. New features include Pandora Internet Radio service, better photo and video editing and searching, and the ability to burn music CDs. Consumers can also stream content to the TouchSmart from an HP MediaSmart Server or any home server.

Soon, HP plans to introduce the HP SimpleSave external hard drive series to complement the new PCs and offer simple and automatic backup. The hard drive family will consist of two products: HP SimpleSave Portable and HP SimpleSave Desktop. HP SimpleSave Portable will be available in 320- and 500-gigabyte capacities. The HP SimpleSave Desktop will be available in 1- and 2-terabyte capacities. Both devices come with preinstalled backup software.

The new desktops are available through www.HPDirect.com. From now until June 27th, HP will offer hard drive upgrade and monitor promotions on selected systems. In addition, HP has also said select consumer desktop PCs purchased after June 26 at 12:01 a.m. ET will be eligible for HP’s Windows 7 Upgrade Program.
