Gamefly's "Unlimited PC Play" Beta Goes Live, Sweet Discounts Await

The benefits of joining up with Gamefly just got a whole lot groovier. Gamefly's Unlimited PC Play service, previously available to a limited audience as a closed beta, is now live for all Gamefly subscribers. If you have a Gamefly account, just download the PC client to get access to hundreds of playable games via a Steam-like interface, as well as high-definition trailers, screenshots, and other goodies.

"We are thrilled to finally be able to open up the beta so anyone interested in video games can start using the client, and we are hard at work expanding our catalog of PC titles for our users to play for free in the Unlimited PC Play section," said Sean Spector, GameFly co-founder and senior vice president of Business Development and Content.

This is the result of Gamefly's purchase of Direct2Drive from IGN Entertainment earlier in the year, and from our limited hands-on time with the beta, it's pretty awesome. To play one of the available PC games, all you have to do is click the download button, press install, and then hop right in.

With the addition of PC games, a Gamefly account suddenly becomes a great gift idea for the holidays. To make it even better, you can head over to PLNDR and grab a $30 three-month voucher for new, first-time members (I picked one up my self over the weekend) on Gamefly's 2-game plan. To sweeten the deal even more, Gamefly is offering holiday gift certificates for up to 20 percent off in 1 to 12 month chunks, and you can buy them for yourself. Combine the two deals and you'll feel like you just stole something, only without running afoul of the law.

It's a good time to be a gamer, especially a platform agnostic one.
