Galaxy Tab 3 Now Available, Samsung Celebrates with A Tablet Use Infographic

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 family has landed, and as we learned a couple of weeks ago, the family includes 7-, 8-, and 10.1-inch versions. Actually, there are six SKUs in all as each version is offered in both white and “golden brown”. All are WiFi-only models and of course run Android.

Samsung has always been a little wild with the number of SKUs it puts out, and the company seems to be addressing that issue in this release with an infographic noting how tablet use is growing, but everyone seems to use their tablets in their own specific ways. Thus, it claims, the variety of size options allows consumers more flexibility in their buying choices.

What we find most interesting is that among the many use cases put forth in the infographic, not a single area is 100%. That seems odd.

The 10.1-inch Galaxy Tab 3 ($399) features a 1280x800 resolution, 1.6GHz dual-core Intel Z2560 chip, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of onboard storage, 1.3MP and 3.2MP front- and rear-facing cameras with HD recording capabilities.

The 8-inch version ($299) has the same screen resolution and offers a 1.5GHz processor, 1.5GB of RAM, and 16GB of onboard storage. The front camera is the same as the larger 10.1-inch tablet, but the rear camera has a higher megapixel count at 5MP.

The little brother in the family competes squarely in the 7-inch form factor market at a price point of $199. It’s got a 1.2GHz processor, 1GB of RAM, and 8GB of onboard storage, with 1.3MP and 3MP front and rear cameras.

All of the Galaxy 3 tablets feature Galaxy Perks (pre-loaded content including vouchers for products), IR blaster capabilities, and the Galaxy Note’s terrific multi-window capabilities for multitasking.
