Cricket Picking Up iPhone 5 on September 28, Leaves You Guessing on Price

Apple neglected to mention that its new iPhone 5 device will be available to pre-paid customers, but rest assured, if you're not looking to tie yourself down to a two-year service agreement with AT&T, Sprint, or Verizon, you don't have to. Contract-free wireless carrier Cricket has announced that it too will offer the iPhone 5 later this month.

"Cricket Communications, a leading provider of innovative and value-driven wireless services, and a wholly-owned subsidiary of Leap Wireless International, Inc, today announced it will offer iPhone 5, the thinnest and lightest iPhone ever, to customers in select Cricket markets in the U.S. beginning Friday, September 28," the wireless carrier said in a short and sweet statement.

Cricket didn't reveal any pricing information, but since the iPhone 5 costs the same as the iPhone 4S did at launch, we suspect the iPhone 5 16GB will sell for $499. After that, it's $55/month for unlimited talk, text, and data, so long as your idea of "unlimited" data is 2.3GB (as part of Cricket's fair usage policies).
