ATI Linux Driver Version 8.28.8 Released

ATI released a new version of their Linux proprietary drivers today, version 8.28.8. This new version is ATI's first unified 32bit-64bit driver installer for Linux. It automatically recognizes which CPU architecture is being used and installs the appropriate driver. Other new features include display switching support for IBM/Lenovo Thinkpad products, retaining display device state between restarts, and support for the ATI Radeon Xpress 1200, 1250 and 1300.

The new driver release also fixes the bug that prevented an image from being displayed when a Dell Widescreen UltraSharp 2405FPW was connected via DVI on a system using the X Server.
