Asus Debuts App Store, Lamborghini VX6 And New Eee PCs

Asus has certainly been busy with new product announcements at Computex, and while the EeePad, EeeTablet and new introductions in the Republic of Gamers family are all swell, there's something special about Asus' partnership with one of the world's leading car brands. Closing up the loop on the company's bevy of announcements this week is a new machine in the exclusive Lamborghini line: the VX6.

This stunning ultraportable has been revised from the 2009 verion (VX5) with NVIDIA Ion graphics, 512MB of VRAM, Bang & Olufsen ICEpower audio technology, and a gorgeous white outer lid. The company is also debuting a few new Eee PCs for the netbook crowd, with the 1018, 1016 and Seashell 1015 sliding out with few actual specifications to discuss just yet. We do know that users can expect a Super Hybrid Engine for adjusting the CPU to maximize power and/or save battery life, and the promised 13.5 hours of usage should pique your interest regardless.

Asus Eee App Store, essentially a rebranded version of Intel's AppUp store.

Finally, the company has announced the Asus App Store, which just might be the most important and under-rated announcement of the week. It's reported that this is being designed with future netbooks, UMPCs and tablets in mind, with a possible launch on MeeGo also in the cards. Intel itself has been pushing for a netbook-centric app store, and with Asus' lead in the netbook market, there's hardly a better company to develop just that. Needless to say, the rest of this year should be very interesting as these Asus developments unfold. The netbook creator might just be onto something even bigger.
