AMD Radeon R9 295X2 Dual GPU Liquid Cooled Graphics Card Now On Sale, Seriously Pricey But Powerful

If you've been wanting to upgrade your setup to run the fastest consumer level graphics card on the planet, today's the day you've been waiting for. AMD's insanely powerful Radeon R9 295X2 card is now starting to pop up online for purchase. The card isn't for everyone -- many gamers will find it cost prohibitive -- but if you have the disposable income and a beefy enough power supply, then we tip our hats to you, good sir or madam.

Amazon has a few of these cards listed. Stock comes and goes, though one to keep an eye on is the XFX brand card. It's currently priced at $1,649.99 with free shipping, which is $150 above AMD's MSRP, but also the least expensive around at this early stage. The two other cards we found go for $1,719.99 and $1,999.99. Markups like this are one of the costs of being an early adopter.

Radeon R9 295X2

The Radeon R9 295X2 is an absolute beast (check out our review). It has two GPUs and is essentially two Radeon R9 290X graphics cards merged together on a single PCB, but with a slightly higher peak GPU frequency (1018MHz versus 1000MHz). All tallied, it has 5,632 stream processors, 352 texture units, 128 ROPs, and 8GB of GDDR5 memory on a dual 512-bit memory interface.

AMD opted to cool the 295X2 with an integrated liquid cooler. There are space requirements to consider, at least in terms of the tubing and fan, but it's worth pointing out that the this card runs quieter than two 290X cards in CrossFire (and takes up less expansion slots, to boot).
