Acer Unveils Spate Of “Liquid” Smartphones, Plus A Tablet And The Liquid Leap Smartband
Up first is the Acer Liquid X1 smartphone, a monster 5.7-inch device with an octa core (1.7GHz) processor and a quad-core graphics processor. The LTE handset features 2GB of RAM with a microSD card slot for expandable storage. There’s a 13MP camera with a f/1.8 aperture and 0.3-second “ultra-fast” focus and a 2MP wide-angle front camera.

Acer also debuted a pair of 5-inch smartphones in the Liquid E600 and E700, both of which feature quad-core processors and IPS displays. The E700 offers a 3500 mAh battery for maximum battery life, as well as a triple SIM card, 2GB of RAM, and up to 16GB of onboard storage and a microSD card slot. The E600 offers an 8MP rear camera (with f/2.0 aperture).

On the budget side of things, Acer is debuting the Liquid Z200 smartphone, a 4-inch device with a WVGA display that comes in multiple colors with a dual SIM card. It has DTS sound and a 2MP camera, but its killer feature is the various Quick Modes you can use. For instance, you can set it to Basic Mode with fixed call and text functions for kids or Easy Senior Mode with a few additional features for elderly folks who may otherwise be overwhelmed by all the smartphone options.
All of the above smartphones will run Android 4.4 KitKat and will be available Q3 2014.

But wait, there’s more. Acer also announced the Acer Iconia Tab 8 tablet, an 8-inch device with a full HD display (1920x1200), a quad-core Intel Atom Z3745 processor. It has a microSD card slot for storage expandability and front and rear cameras.

Finally, Acer is releasing a smartphone-and-wearable duo with the Liquid Jade smartphone and Liquid Leap “smartband”. The Liquid Jade sounds more or less like the aforementioned E700, with a 5-inch IPS display and 13.1MP (f/1.8 aperture) camera, but this version is designed to be sold with the smartband. The Liquid Leap is Acer’s first wearable, and it offers a one-inch touchscreen and a rubber wristband that comes in multiple colors including white, black, aqua, pink, and orange. The waterproof (IPX7) device boasts a 7-day battery life, and it features Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity. It’s a fitness tracker to be sure, checking steps, running distance, calories burned, and even your sleeping cycles, and it also lets you receive incoming SMS texts and calls and includes music control functions.
