Acer Announces Two Iconia Tablets, New C720P Touchscreen Chromebook

Acer has a few goodies to share as we inch closer to CES, including a pair of tablets bearing the “Iconia” moniker and a touchscreen chromebook.

The Acer Iconia A1-830 is a 7.9-inch Android (4.2.1 Jelly Bean) tablet with a resolution of 1024x768 and a 1.6GHz Intel Atom Z2560 (Clover Trail) processor. There’s 1GB of RAM on board as well as 16GB of internal storage (with a microSD card slot), a rear-facing camera that shoots in 2560x1920, a front-facing 720p HD camera, and dual speakers.

The B1-720 is optimized for affordability at $129.99, while the A1-830 is still inexpensive at $179.99. (Update 11:05am, 3 Jan 14--Acer just reached out to let us know that the price of the A1-830 is even lower at $149.99)

We spent a good bit of time with the Acer C720 Chromebook, but the company has touchscreen versions in the family, too. The C720P touchscreen chromebook has been around for a little over a month, but Acer is announcing a second model with 10-point multitouch, the C720P-2600.

The primary differences between the two are that the new version is available in Moonstone White and has 2GB of RAM. The C720P-2600 has the same 11.6-inch HD display, Intel Celeron 2955U (Haswell) processor, 32GB SSD, and all the Google goodies you get with a chromebook. Both touchscreen models cost $299.99.
