Abit AV8, Asus Star Ice CPU Cooler, and more!
Hey folks, it's time for one more update to cap off the night. I received my BFG 6800GT OC w/ NV5 Silencer today... wow, big step up from a 9800 Pro :) Goodnight all.
"At the end of the day I have mixed feelings about the Asus Star Ice CPU cooler. If you are looking for a large cooler that looks like a small jet engine fitted onto your motherboard then the Star Ice is what you seek. To obtain good cooling performance it may also have to sound like a small jet engine."
"As we await the latest PCI Express chipsets to roll in en masse, we roundup the current Socket 939 Athlon 64 solutions available. The ABIT AV8 is our first candidate, a feature filled board that won't disappoint if your looking for an all round decent performer."
"The front view, I have to say, is the most stylish aspect of this case. The thick brushed aluminum front has a solid classic look to it. The smoked glass hiding the VFD display is set very well and does give at all when you push against it. Since this is a HTPC case there are 2 USB and 1 Firewire ports on the front that are good additions for plugging in a video camera for direct downloading. The drive bay door conceals 2 External 5 ¼ inch Bays."
"The Leadtek was absolutely a blast. I started out by moderately overclocking the core and memory; I bumped the core up 20MHz and the memory up 20 MHz. This was of course, no great feat but I must say I was happy to see it had worked. I decided to go for some gusto and bumped the core up to 550MHz and the memory up to 1100MHz."
