Verbatim Introduces Portable SureFire Hard Drive

Here lately, Verbatim has issued more optical media solutions than external hard drives, but the company's still all about storage. That's evidenced today with the introduction of its SureFire line of portable HDDs, all of which include FireWire 800 and USB 2.0 sockets.

Each of the drives are classically and simply styled, doing without flash and sticking to the bare necessities. Thankfully, Verbatim also added a dash of "rugged," so you don't have to be scares to haul these out on the road with you. Available in capacities of 250GB, 320GB and 500GB, these palm-sized drives are fully compatible with Windows and Mac computers and get all the power they need from the USB 2.0 or FireWire 800 port.

Within, there's room for a 2.5" 5400RPM drive with 8MB of cache, and it also ships with a black protective carrying case. The new line weighs 0.41 pounds and measures 3.13" x 5.0" 0.66"; they can be ordered right now for $109.99 (250GB), $139.99 (320GB) and $179.99 (500GB).
