Supply Chain Sources Say Apple Will Announce iPhone 6 In August
Bigger is in, certainly when glancing at the smartphone universe. Phablets have proven to be more than a fad, and even "normal" smartphones are above the 4" mark. Now, Apple is about to join that bandwagon. According to suppliers in Taiwan cited in a new Reuters report, the next iteration of the iPhone (likely the iPhone 6) will boast a 4.7" display, and could hit shelves as early as August. That'd be a change in ship date from the past few iPhone models, which hit closer to the holiday shopping rush.
But, here's why: Apple may then introduce yet another iPhone model, with a screen hovering around 5.5" or 5.6", this September. If true, this would mark the first time in Apple's history that it shipped an iPhone with varying screen sizes. Up until now, it has been a one-size-fits-all approach.
It's no secret that many Android users are there solely because of the vast options they have when it comes to screen size and form factor, whereas iOS is limited to a single screen size and only two spec models (iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c).
