Sprint Continues To Make Progress On LTE Rollout, Announces New Markets

Sprint is continuing to roll out its Network Vision plan which includes 4G LTE service as well as improved 3G service in many areas throughout the country. Today, Sprint announced that it has added Austin and Bryan-College Station, Texas to the list of cities that have access to 4G LTE service. Sprint also launched 4G LTE service in Boston; Columbia, Tenn.; Emporia, Kan.; Fort Wayne, Ind.; Framingham, Mass.; Gettysburg, Pa.; and Western Puerto Rico (including Aguadilla, Isabela, Cabo Rojo, Mayagüez) today.

“Everything is bigger in Texas and now so is Sprint’s 4G LTE network allowing more Texans to experience 4G LTE on their smartphones, tablets and wireless hotspots,” said John Stevens, regional vice president - Consumer Sales, Sprint. “In Austin, the Live Music Capital of the World, customers will find that 4G LTE will increase the speed of streaming and downloading music and sending emails and videos to friends and relatives.”

With the addition of the new markets, Sprint now offers 4G LTE service in 58 markets. Prepaid customers on Assurance Wireless, Virgin Mobile and Boost Mobile can also take advantage of Sprint's improvements to its 3G network which brings quality improvements and better network reliability.

While Sprint is working hard to roll out its 4G LTE network, it's still behind the competition. AT&T currently offers 4G LTE in 135 markets while Verizon Wireless offers 4G LTE in 476 cities.
