Sony Sets July 16 Ship Date For NSZ-GS7 Internet Player with Google TV

Is it time for Google TV to make a comeback? With Google I/O starting this week, why not? Sony is choosing an opportune time to rekindle that fire, announcing today that its new NSZ-GS7 Internet Player with Google TV -- which was initially launched at CES -- will be shipping on July 16.


Pre-orders start today, with a $199 price tag at the helm. Furthermore, Google TV looks to be using this vehicle to go international, with the UK getting in on the action as well. Moreover, many other nations -- like France, Canada, Mexico, Brazil and Germany -- should be seeing it ship in the coming months. No doubt, it's a slick looking box, but slick enough to make Google TV a thriving success?

The Internet Player that lets any TV become a Google TV

June 25, 2012 – Sony today announced the availability and pricing of the NSZ-GS7, Internet Player with Google TV, originally introduced in January at CES. Powered by the Google TV platform, the Internet Player will be available to buy in store from week commencing July 16. Pre-orders begin today (June 25) online at www.sony.co.uk.

In 2010, Sony pioneered the internet-TV convergence as one of the first manufacturers to launch products powered by Google TV. The new Internet Player with Google TV, will make Sony the first manufacturer to launch Google TV products outside of the United States, initially starting with the United Kingdom in July, followed later by Canada, Australia, France, Germany and Netherlands, Brazil and Mexico.

In addition to the NSZ-GS7 Internet Player, Sony’s newest Internet Blu-ray Disc™ player with Google TV, the NSZ-GP9, will be available from October initially in the United States, followed by Canada, Australia, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, and Netherlands.
