Samsung Slips a Pico Projector into Product Lineup
They say there's a first time for everything, and that apparently applies to Samsung as well. The company best known for its hard drives and LCD monitors this week announced the SP-H03, "a self-contained personal device," as Samsung describes it, or the first pico projector the company has ever made (as we would describe it).
"With portable design, high quality projection, and built-in multimedia playback features, the SP-H03 is an expansion of Samsung’s expertise in LED technology and mobile productivity," said Tom Grau, senior manager of projector marketing at Samsung Electronics Information Technology Division. "The H03’s robust and intuitive features make it an easy, efficient and affordable choice for everyone from tech-savvy travelers to mobile presenters, professionals and educators."
Samsung's pico projector, which looks more like a miniature Polaroid camera than anything else, boasts an LED light source rated at 30,000 hours. It can beam images in WVGA (854x480) anywhere from 9 inches to 80 inches in size and comes with 1GB of internal memory that's expandable up to 16GB via a microSD card slot, or with input from a USB storage device. You'll also find an integrated 1W speaker, support for several file formats (AVI, MP4, ASF, MPG, RM, FLV, WMV, JPEG, PNG, BMP, GIF, MP3, MP2, WAV, WMA, FLACK, APE, and RA), a headphone jack, and a rechargeable Lithium-ion battery rated at up to 2 hours of run time.
Look for this one to show up on retail shelves any day now for $300.
