Plants vs. Zombies Sequel Now Available for iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch

They're baaaaack! After successfully fending off hordes of zombies from your lawn and home in PopCap's wildly addictive Plants vs. Zombies game, the highly anticipated sequel, Plants vs. Zombies 2, is now available on iOS. This time around PopCap Games is going with a freemium model, meaning the title is free to download and play on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch devices, with in-app purchases available for premium plants and other upgrades.

There's also a time travel theme in the sequel. You'll play in different historical eras, facing off with zombies from various time periods and places, such as ancient Egypt. Though the setting is a bit different, gameplay mechanics are the same -- it's still a tower defense game.

Initially there will be three new worlds to explore with more coming soon. You'll have access to over 60 levels at launch, dozens of new plants and zombies, plant food to supercharge your floral defenses, touchscreen powerups, side missions, mini-games, and more.

What about Android and other operating systems? PopCap Games says it will make the sequel available to other platforms "later this year and beyond."
