Pandigital 8" Connected Digital Photo Frame Joins AT&T Network

Digital photo frames just don't have the buzz that they once did. A couple of years ago, they were *the* holiday gift to give. Now, just about everyone that needs or wants one has one, so the hype surrounding them has died down. But now, companies are trying new tricks to market old devices. Pandigital's new photo frame is joining AT&T's network, with the Pandigital Photo Mail 8" Digital Photo Frame being one of the few digital frames that can download photos over the air as long as you can get AT&T reception.

The wirelessly-connected digital photo frame displays photos emailed directly to its dedicated email address. Customers can share that address with family and friends to allow them to send photos directly to the frame from their own email account – whether it's from a computer, smartphone or any other email-enabled device. But that comes at a price. The frame is on sale starting today for $119.99, but that price does include the ability to receive 60 photos at no additional cost.  Additional photo allotments may be purchased directly from Pandigital: 100 for $9.99, 400 for $29.99 and 700 for $49.99. This seems like a better alternative to paying a monthly fee.

Customers are alerted by the frame when new photos are emailed to its dedicated email address by friends and family so that they may quickly accept the photos in a single step to then begin enjoying them. Because the frames can receive photos from a smart phone or other email-enabled device, photos can be sent from virtually anywhere, even on-the-go. As for specifications, the unit has a 6-in-1 media card reader as well as a Wi-Fi module. It has an 8" display with a LED-backlit panel (800x600), 1GB of internal memory, and support for AVI video clips/MP3 music files. There's even a real wood frame to add a touch of class, so if you still know someone know needs a digital frame, this might be the one.
