Well, what have we here? Unless our eyes are deceiving us, we believe we're looking at the latest media streamer in the long line of newfangled media streaming devices. As media becomes more and more mobile (and thus, less and less attached to whatever device it's actually stored on), AV addicts are finding the allure of taking their content and playing it back anywhere increasingly hard to resist.
MediaGate has actually been in the streaming business for quite some time now, and by and large, its players are well respected in the industry. The company's latest, which it boldly calls "one of the most advanced high-definition multimedia players available," is the oddly named  MG-M²TV. The small set top box, which doesn't look too different than most of the rivals out there, comes with an HDMI output for full 1080p support, two USB host ports for adding addition storage, a three-in-one card reader for quickly accessing media on flash memory and support for an optional Wireless-N Wi-Fi dongle that will enable cord-free streaming.

The device supports REAL Media files, MP3, MPG, AVI, MKV and a host of other formats, and it's expected to ship next month for $119. Unfortunately, that price doesn't include any actual storage, and there doesn't seem to be room for an internal hard drive either. In other words, those looking for a multimedia server & streamer should probably fix their eyes on a Popcorn Hour device, as this one's really only good for taking content from your NAS/networked PC to your living room HDTV.
