MSI and SteelSeries Team Up to Launch GX780 Gaming Notebook

Intel's Sandy Bridge platform is stealing the show as PC makers shuttle systems left and right built around the chip maker's second generation Core platform. That includes MSI's brand new GX780 gaming notebook equipped with a juicy Core i7 2630QM quad-core processor flanked by Nvidia's GeForce GT 555M discrete graphics chip.

Other hardware and features packed in and around this 17.3-inch notebook include:
  • Up to 16GB of DDR3 memory
  • 320GB/500GB/750GB hard drive
  • DVD burner (Blu-ray optional)
  • 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi
  • HDMI, VGA video output
  • 2x USB 3.0, 3x USB 2.0, 1x eSATA, multi-card reader
  • Windows 7 Home/Professional/Ultimate
  • 9-cell battery
MSI also partnered with gaming peripheral maker SteelSeries to build the notebook's keyboard. The end result is a plank that's much more durable and gamer-centric, with the Windows key having been whisked to the right side of the keyboard where you're less likely the hit it during an intense round of gaming. There's also an LED backlight with 30 colors to choose from.

No word on when the GX780 will ship or for how much.
