Lenovo Is Considering Packard Bell Buyout Deal

The world’s number three PC maker Lenovo Group Ltd. announced today that it is negotiating a deal to acquire Europe-based PC maker Packard Bell BV, via a third party. However, Lenovo may not be the only company that is eying Packard Bell. Back in April, Acer announced plans to buy up a PC company within five months to gain more market share and to hasten growth. In fact, Acer decided against acquiring a U.S. or Taiwan company, but has not been clear on its target.

Lenovo Group Ltd. is a China-based firm that aims to go global via foreign investment. During the first three months of 2007 Lenovo dropped to number four in the world in its tight battle with Acer but has recently regained the bronze position.
