HTC Makes the Switch to Super LCD from AMOLED
Short supplies of AMOLED screens have been blamed for delays in shipping enough HTC Droid Incredible devices. That could be nothing but past experience, according to HTC, because the company is switching a number of devices to a "just as good" Super LCD display.
That switchover was rumored back in June, but HTC saw fit to make it official on Monday. However, the company didn't specifically mention the hot-selling and nearly constantly back-ordered Droid Incredible in their press release, which leads us to wonder.

How well this goes over with future purchasers of affected devices remains to be seen. While the Droid Incredible was not mentioned, it does use a 3.7" AMOLED display, so it would seem to be among the candidates for a switcheroo.

SLCD is the latest generation of LCD technology that offers improved performance from earlier LCD panels including approximately five times better power management. SLCDs also offer an enhanced viewing experience with wider viewing angles that are enabled by Sony’s new VSPEC III™ technology.
