HP Unveils $279 Chromebook 11 With Exynos Processor
The latest Chromebook to hit the market is the HP Chromebook 11, an 11.6-inch notebook with a cool white or black finish and a decidedly Google-ish colored stripe around the keyboard area and on the lid. If you were eagerly anticipating a Chromebook running an Intel Haswell chip, though, pump the brakes--this model has a Samsung Exynos 5250 GAIA processor inside.
The 16:9 display is an IPS panel with a resolution of 1366x768, and there’s a clickable touchpad on board. The Chromebook 11 has 2GB of DDR3 RAM, 16GB of SSD storage, 100GB of Google Drive storage (free for two years), and for connectivity, there’s dual-band 802.11 a/b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, and (coming soon) optional 4G LTE from Verizon.
You also get 12 free GoGo InFlight Internet sessions and a 60-day free trial of Google Play Music All Access.
As far as ports, the Chromebook 11 has a pair of USB 2.0 ports, micro-SIM slot (for 3G and 4G models), webcam, headphone/mic jack, digitally-tuned speakers, and a micro USB port that serves double duty as a SlimPort video out and charging port. That’s right, you can power up the notebook with the same charger you use for most phones when the 6-hour battery runs out.
The whole shebang only weighs 2.3lbs and costs $279.
