Google's Nexus 5 Rumored to be Based on LG's G2

There's never a dull moment in the smartphone market, with the latest pique of interest owing its thanks to Google and LG. Rumor has it that Google's next smartphone, the Nexus 5, will be produced by LG (which designed the Nexus 4), and be based on LG's own G2 (announced a couple of weeks ago). One thing that really sets the G2 apart from the crowd is its volume slider on the back (seen below), so it'll be interesting to see if the Nexus 5 carries that feature over.

Like the G2, the Nexus 5 is said to sport a 5.2-inch screen, Qualcomm's Snapdragon 800 processor, and, if it aligns itself close to the G2 as rumor has it, it should also include a 1080p resolution and 13 megapixel rear camera - but any of this can be tweaked as per Google's discretion. Like the volume slider at the back, another unique feature LG's G2 has is a 24-bit/192kHz audio processor, though it seems a little unlikely to me that Google would care enough about that to port it over, but it'd be interesting if it was.

With the Nexus 5 rumored to launch over the next couple of months, it seems likely that it will launch with Google's upcoming Android, 5.0 "Key Lime Pie", yet another piece of the pie (sorry) that Google has kept pretty tight-lipped about. The next couple of months should be interesting on the Android front, especially with this larger Nexus on the horizon.
