Best Buy Slashes $200 Off MacBook Pro Laptops, Students Can Save Additional $100

There's no better time to shop for a Mac than during the back-to-school shopping season. As we recently reported, Apple is offering college students up to $200 off select Mac systems plus a $100 App Store gift card, however you don't have to go through Apple to get a discount, nor do you need to be a student.

Best Buy sent us a note letting us know it temporarily slashed the price of two MacBook Pro models by $200. The 13.3-inch MacBook Pro with Core i5 processor clocked at 2.5GHz, 4GB of RAM, and 500GB hard drive is now $1,000, on sale from $1,200, and the 13.3-inch MacBook Pro with Core i7 processor clocked at 2.9GHz, 8GB RAM, and 750GB hard drive is now $1,300, down from $1,500.

While the discount applies to anyone and everyone, students can save an additional $100. All they have to do is enter in a qualifying .edu email address, wait for a coupon code to arrive, and then enter the promotional code under Payment Method at checkout. Doing so would bring the price down of the above mentioned models to $900 (Core i5 system) and $1,200 (Core i7 system).

The deal will run until July 27, 2013. In addition, Best Buy is offering a bunch of other discounts on various systems and accessories.
