Archos 7" Child Pad Is a $120 Android 4.0 Tablet For Your Kiddo

So, there are tablets for big folks -- like the Galaxy Note 10.1 and iPad -- and then there are slates for the kids. Well, there aren't a lot, but it's a growing market. Archos is contributing to the cause with the new Child Pad, a unique 7" Ice Cream Sandwich-based slate that'll sell for $129.99. It's pretty outrageous to see an Android 4.0 slate for this cheap, and the specs aren't half bad, either. There's a 1GHz processor, 1GB of RAM and a cute shell featuring Alvin and the Chipmunks. (Which we know some adults would dig, too.)

It'll ship with some preloaded content specifically for kids, and it'll also include a half-year parental control application for child-safe web browsing. The ICS interface has been retooled somewhat with more colored and kid-centric UI elements, and there's 4GB of Flash memory for multimedia. Wi-Fi is there, of course, but you'll have to install Angry Birds on your own. But hey, for $120, that's a fair compromise.
