Activision Confirms New Tony Hawk Pro Skater Game Is In Development

It's been four long years since we last saw a new Tony Hawk video game, which might as well be an eternity if you're a fan of skateboarding and/or the skateboarding legend himself (who, by the way, retired from the sport in 1999). Though it seemed like there might never be another Tony Hawk game, the legendary skater teased a new game while speaking on his Demolition Radio show on SiriusXM.

"We're working on a game, we are working on a game; it's pretty cool," Hawk said. He then made a reference to motion capture while a co-host chimed in, "It's a whole suit you have to put on."

In case you need further proof of a new Tony Hawk game, Activision confirmed to IGN that it has "something in the works" with the skater and promised to offer up more information soon. In the meantime, we can only reminisce about past games in the Tony Hawk series and speculate as to what the new title will be like.

The first game in the series, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater, debuted in 1999. It sold well, prompting Activision to release a number of sequels, including Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2X (for the Xbox), Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4, Tony Hawk's Underground (THUG), Tony Hawk's Underground 2, Tony Hawk's Underground 2 Remix, Tony Hawk's American Wasteland, Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam, Tony Hawk's Project 8, Tony Hawk's Proving Ground, Tony Hawk's Motion, Tony Hawk: Ride, Tony Hawk: Shred, and Tony Hawk's Pro Skater HD. That's 17 titles over the course of 15 years.
