Ghost Recon: Wildands takes gamers back to squad-based tactical shooter country, albeit this time we’re dropping in hot, to cartel-controlled Bolivia. Our mission is to gather intel to systematically take down each cartel leader until the head of the snake is dispatched. The operation is playable solo or with three others in 4-player co-op. Ubisoft has also made this one available for would-be operatives on all Platforms (PC, Xbox One and PS4). Ditching the futuristic theme of the previous Ghost Recon installment, Wildlands is firmly set in the present and brings a new, completely open-world setting... Read more...
Suit-up mech pilots! Titanfall 2 has landed! Developer Respawn has returned with a sequel to its frenectic-paced FPS from 2014, offering yet even more stylistic wall-running, double-jumping and a bit of mech-on-mech action peppered throughout. Titanfall 2 is not your average first-person shooter, to say the least. The original TitanFall was fun but quaint affair that felt under supported, with DLC distribution that essentially fragmented the community. Acknowledging this shortcoming  for the sequel, EA and Respawn are promising that all additional content made available post-purchase, (maps,... Read more...
Tomorrow, BioWare's long-awaited Dragon Age Inquisition will drop for the PS4, Xbox One, and PCs. To say I'm excited would be an understatement. I've long been a fan of the Dragon Age series, even if Dragon Age 2 failed to live up to its predecessor, and by all accounts Dragon Age Inquisition is going to be a fabulous game. A recent video from CVG compares the visuals in key scenes between the Xbox One, PS4 and PC versions and I'm happy to report that while the PC variant clearly looks the best in multiple areas (as it should), there's evidence of good, intelligent optimization for all platforms.... When NVIDIA first announced that it would create a workstation-class remote virtualization system that enabled full GPU acceleration with latency-free streaming I was more than a little skeptical. Not only did it seem like a solution in search of a problem, the bandwidth requirements and technical heavy-lifting to support professional PC users seemed too steep to surmount in a few short years. Then, this week, NVIDIA announced that it would offer a free 24-hour test drive of NVIDIA GRID to anyone who wanted to see what the technology could do. We took the company up on its offer and what we've... Read more...
One of the most dramatic shifts in portable gaming history has been the surge in popularity of smartphones and tablets in the past two years. In 2009, Android and iOS devices accounted for ~19 percent of game revenue. In 2010, their combined share nearly doubled, while Flurry Analytics estimates that the two platforms will account for 58 percent of gaming revenue in 2011. This shift, combined with the rising popularity of "freemium" distribution models in which much or all of a game's content is provided free of charge while a subset of top-tier content is available for a nominal fee, has... Computer cases tend to reveal certain things about their owners. With one glance, your friends can estimate just how serious (or casual) your computer hardware addiction may be. Whether the chassis is a generic, cream-colored throwback from the 90's, a standard mid-tower with a couple of LED fans, or an extravagant full-tower gaming behemoth with see-through side panels and custom graphics, first impressions unavoidably start with the enclosure. Although the market is loaded with a myriad of attractive cases, one product from Thermaltake caught our attention from the moment we laid eyes on it and... Read more...
Last week, we brought you a preview of newcomer Origin PC's Genesis desktop and announced a system giveaway (details available here).  At that time we noted that "there's a new company joining the ranks of boutique system builders with customization options that could turn the head of even the most die-hard DIY-er. The paint is scarcely dry on the Origin logo—the business opened on November 17th—but the corporation's three founders each spent a decade at Alienware prior to founding Origin. " Now it's time to investigate the system's actual performance as shipped. With a list price of $4999... Read more...

On November 19, Microsoft released its new dashboard, dubbed "The New Xbox Experience". This free firmware update is mandatory for all consoles that connect to Xbox Live, and aims to redefine how users both use the Xbox and interact online. The new update completely overhauls the existing blade-style interface, moving to a much more flowing, intuitive design. It promises to keep and improve upon legacy features, while adding new content and functionality. Existing themes, gamer pictures, or backgrounds will work just fine in the new interface. However, the previous dashboard, which... Read more...
Mobile computing has come a long way in the last few years.  Notebook manufacturers have been squeezing more power and features into ever more portable packages.  As technologies have continued to be refined, shrinking in size and power requirements, manufacturers have been able to expand their creative ideas, bring ever more impressive options to market to fit virtually any budget.  In recent months, we have seen excellent examples of both ends of the spectrum, from the budget oriented Asus Eee PC to powerful gaming/desktop replacement systems from Dell, Lenovo and Asus. ...
