Apple’s WWDC 2017 Gets Underway June 5th Highlighting Future Of iOS And macOS
Apple's marketing chief Phil Schiller hinted that the conference will center upon Apple's four major software platforms— iOS, macOS, tvOS and watchOS. There is usually a keynote presentation that reveals Apple’s latest products and services.
The conference has not been held in the “The Capital of Silicon Valley” since 2002. The earlier announcement will presumably give conference attendees more time to adjust their travel plans, and hotels are also cheaper in San Jose than they are in San Francisco.
Schiller remarked, "First, San Jose is closer to our new campus, and the fact that we’ll have over 1,000 Apple engineers taking part and working at the conference means we’d like to have it as close to Apple as possible. That would bring us the highest level of interaction with as many developers as we can. Secondly, we thought about the developers’ experience; and while both San Francisco and San Jose are amazing cities, we thought that for not just the conference but for all the other activities that take place around it, this was a perfect time to be back where it all began."
“We look forward to working with Apple to create a special experience for the thousands of attendees who will visit San Jose for this marquee event," said San Jose Major Sam Liccardo. "And on behalf of our entire city, I’d like to extend a warm invitation to Apple developers, partners and enthusiasts from around the world to join us in Downtown San Jose as Apple unveils its latest innovations.”
Liccardo is no doubt overjoyed that the conference will be held in his city. The conference will further help to put San Jose on the map and encourage collaboration between local corporations, “Team San Jose”, a partnership between the San Jose Convention and Visitors Bureau, hotels, arts and labor. Liccardo believes that Apple is helping to reinvigorate San Jose’s downtown and that the city will “engage the leading innovative companies, like Apple, to talk about how we can be partners in our mutual success.”
The WWDC will take place in San Jose, California between June 5th and June 9th, 2017. Registration opens March 27th.
