    Companies Might Just Pass On Vista

    Vista has certainly faced some adoption issues and it looks like recent comments about how soon Windows 7 might be available could be causing those on the fence to stay there a little while longer.  This could very well be a motivating factor for companies to “Just Say No.” to Vista.

    Among the latest to jump on this bandwagon is General Motors.  The automobile giant has said that it has encountered so many problems getting Vista to work on its machines that it is likely to skip the OS and wait for Windows 7.  Says GM's Chief Systems & Technology Officer Fred Killeen, "We're considering bypassing Vista and going straight to Windows 7."

    There are numerous reasons why large corporations are looking to bypass Vista, but the bigger question might be what will Windows 7 bring to the table?   Is it entirely possible that XP might live on in large and medium sized businesses until compelling new technologies require an upgrade?  It’s hard to tell at this point, but something tells us that if customers are happy with XP and aren’t upgrading to Vista, they might not jump on the Windows 7 bandwagon either.

    I had sort of illuded to it before.....most companies/network-based businesses didn't hardly think about using XP until SP2 was released. Vista just apparently does not have the staying power of XP (it will not be around for 8+ years anyway obviously so there is just less time to iron out the kinks.

    Think of this however....when ME was released everyone complained because they loved 98 and ME had more bugs. Then XP was released and people praised the lord because they hated ME so much.

    It seems to me that Windows 7 will be released and be the answer to everyone's Vista problems -- Windows 7 will be the new XP just simply because it is following a poor OS release prior to it.

    I hate to bust your chops but Windows 7 will heavily resemble Vista when it is released. It is going ot be built on the same foundation as vista just tweaked and improved. There are going to be some drastic changes to the OS that is for sure. But I encourage everyone to start getting used to the way Vista looks and feels because Windows 7 will do the same thing. Also, remember that WIndows 7 is going to be a 64-bit ONLY OS.

    I was speaking not from a functionality standpoint -- I was speaking from a consumer love-hate standpoint. Basically because everyone seems to hate Vista everyone will LOVE getting away from it via Windows 7.

    Are you sure its 64 bit only, many people will have to upgrade a processor for a OS, sounds silly to me.
