However, I would like to seek your advice on my server motherboard problem.

I am building a new rig based on a Cosrsiar 800D case. I know I want to use an i7 2011 processor and that it will have 10 hd's and be water cooled.

My problem is that I want it to be a general web-hosting server capable of streaming games and other media. This means from a client perspective it must be big and super fast. It will eventually run on at least a T1 connection that will be upgraded as demand requires.

I have looked at the MSI BIG BANG X power II - LGA20011 Socket -79 motherboard and the Gigabyte Assassin whcih both are great gaming motherboards. However, I want to build a high spec, future proofed gaming capable internet server and am concerned that these boards wont be suitable or even man enough to cope with the customer demands.

I did see some very high spec server motherboards that can hold upto 516 gig of DDR3 memory and are RAID enabled which would be great as far as that goes but like everything in life they have down sides as well as upsides when it comes to gaming.

I am not so concerned about the price and am prepared to pay around £550 ($950) for the right board.

I really must get this purchase right as it will be the heart of the system which if successful will be repeated on other servers.

Would you guys put your heads together and help me out in making this purchase decision.

Thanks in advance for your time and efforts.

Hey guys..

Finally got my rig assembled, but now I'm having trouble getting it
to boot.
As you know, the SR-2 goes through a quick power on cycle, then powers
off - then begins POST. If I make ANY changes to the BIOS (adjust the
time or even enter the settings pages), the computer tries to reboot -
but never powers back on after the initial spark-up.

I fiddled around with it for a while, and finally got Windows 7 (Ult.
x64) to install, having to reset the CMOS every time the setup process
needed to reboot. Lame. Finally booted into Windows and downloaded the
drivers for my 2x GTX 580s. Installed the drivers and rebooted - BSOD.
Getting a 'The BIOS for this hardware is not ACPI compliant. Please
contact your hardware vendor.'

This is a RMA board and EVGA has assured me the latest and greatest working BIOS was flashed before they shipped it back to me.

Oh - also, this whole time the BIOS page, Memtest and Win7 are only
picking up one of my procs (2x 5620s) and 1/2 the installed RAM (2x 12
GB). I hoped that if I was able to boot into Windows I could install the
correct drivers and it'd pick up the hardware.

I did some digging and found that a couple other people have had this
same problem with similar hardware - but no one ever bothered to post
the solution.

http://www.evga.com/forums/tm.aspx [...] 76&mpage=1 (almost exact same hardware)

Any help? The fact that I was able to install Windows makes me wonder
if there is some setting I'm just missing. I'm booting the computer
with Optimal Defaults as specified by the POST message. Now it won't
even boot into Windows - just BSOD's w/ the 'The Bios for this hardware
is not ACPI compliant.' Error.

Xtreme Reliability for Extended Component Lifespan
Xtreme Design features innovative Stack Cool3+ to enhance motherboard component longevity. It is a feature that was re-engineered from the original copper cooling innovation of the ASUS P5E64 WS motherboard. With the perfect cooperation with Xtreme Design, Stack Cool3+ effectively cools motherboards with an enhanced PCB layer to provide a stable and low operating temperature for optimized data transmissions. By substantially improving heat dissipation, the new series offers users exceptional reliability. This innovation builds on ASUS' pioneering achievement as the first adopter of innovative cooling technology—which transformed the way motherboards were designed.
I'm relatively new to building computers (ive only built 2) but I follow parts and reviews very regulary and have done so for a couple years now. I'm building a new computer in the next couple months and I would really like some advice on a strong mobo. What I currently have picked out is below.

Q6600 OEM - I do intend to overclock

MSI Ati Radeon 4850 - I would possibly like to get 2 in the future, or maybe just buy a 4870 if the price keeps dropping on newegg.

OCZ Revision 2 DDR2 800 x 4

Antec P180 case

550 Watt PSU - (will upgrade in the future if I crossfire)

I would like to find a mobo that could OC my quad relatively easy and be crossfire compatible. As far as crossfire goes I would like to find one capable for 2 x 16 instead of the mobo splitting the 16 into 2 x 8. Any thoughts or comments I would greatly appreciate.
